Government Strengthens Partnerships with Industry to Deliver Critical Infrastructure

The Government of Saskatchewan is strengthening its collaboration with industry to deliver critical public infrastructure that supports communities, creates jobs and drives economic growth across the province. 

Strong partnerships between government and industry remain essential to delivering major infrastructure projects efficiently, transparently and at the best value for taxpayers. Through ongoing engagement, process improvements and targeted initiatives, the province continues to ensure infrastructure delivery meets the needs of Saskatchewan residents.

"Our government recognizes that delivering infrastructure takes strong partnerships," SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister Sean Wilson said. "Working closely with industry helps us bring projects to life efficiently and effectively. By drawing on the experience and knowledge of our partners, we can deliver high-quality infrastructure that meets the needs of Saskatchewan people and communities." 

The province has increased its engagement with industry through initiatives such as the Construction Roundtable which meets a few times a year. This forum brings together representatives from across the construction supply chain to discuss challenges, identify emerging trends and collaborate on solutions. It also provides a platform for open communication, ensuring industry voices are heard and reflected in government decision-making. 

"The partnership between government and the construction industry is what turns Saskatchewan's Growth Plan into real communities, real jobs and real opportunity for businesses of every size across our province," Contractors Association of Saskatchewan President of MERIT Denise Gamble said. "This is not just talk, it is a relationship that keeps growing stronger year-after-year, translating directly into work for our members and results for the communities they build in. These continued and expanded initiatives show a lasting commitment to each other and government and industry are collectively rolling up their sleeves to keep Saskatchewan the best place in the country to live and do business."   

The government is also strengthening its relationships with Saskatchewan businesses and industry associations through its Priority Saskatchewan and Stakeholder Relations Branch. The branch serves as a key connection between government and the business community, helping suppliers participate in procurement opportunities, sharing information and identifying and addressing issues early. Through regular engagement with industry partners, government can better understand challenges, remove barriers and find more effective ways to deliver infrastructure projects. 

Recent improvements demonstrate the government's commitment to responsiveness and efficiency. These include early bid bond releases, which free up capital for suppliers and allow them to pursue additional opportunities, and the relaunch of the quarterly tender plan to provide greater visibility into upcoming projects.  

"Excellence is achieved when the Government of Saskatchewan and the construction industry work together to deliver infrastructure projects that serve our province," Construction Association of Saskatchewan President Shannon Friesen said. "Through ongoing engagement with industry experts, the Ministry of SaskBuilds brings a practical, informed perspective to projects from design through construction. This collaborative approach benefits government, industry and, most importantly, Saskatchewan residents."  

The province's commitment to infrastructure investment is guided by Saskatchewan's Growth Plan, which includes a target of $30 billion in infrastructure spending by 2030. Annual investments through the provincial budget continue to support this goal, ensuring Saskatchewan's infrastructure keeps pace with a growing population and economy while helping build a strong, steady Saskatchewan. 

During the 2025-26 fiscal year, the provincial government awarded 490 procurements with a total value of $741 million. More than 94 per cent of these procurements, valued at $698 million, were awarded to Saskatchewan-based companies, demonstrating the significant impact of government investment on local businesses, jobs and communities.
